We have entered several of our wines in various wine competitions. We are pleased to announce that several of our wines have received awards at the following competitions:
2005 INDY INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION
The Indy International Wine Competition's goal is to identify, reward and promote excellence in winemaking at the commercial and amateur levels. As one of the largest wine competitions in the entire country and the largest outside of California, the Indy International is prominently recognized throughout the United States. More than 3,600 of the world's best wines were judged by 80 wine experts. Entries were received from 41 American states and seventeen countries including: Canada, Greece, Austria, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Chile, Italy, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Hungary, Romania, Argentina, Israel, and Republic of Georgia.
2005 INTERNATIONAL EASTERN WINE COMPETITION AWARDS
The International Eastern Wine Competition is one of the oldest and largest wine competitions in America. The IEWC takes place on the East Coast and features wines from around the world marketed in North America. Sweepstakes wines came from 11 states in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with a wide range of varietals and blends including non-vinifera and fruit wines. Geographic and viticultural diversity is a strength of this competition.
2005 SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION
The San Francisco International Wine Competition is the largest and most prestigious wine competition in America.
2005 & 2006 TASTERS GUILD WINE JUDGING COMPETITION
Nearly 1,800 wines from 13 countries and 32 states/provinces were evaluated by 35 judges from around the country. The judging panels were comprised of a mix of retailers, winemakers, wine writers, restaurateurs and experienced consumers/collectors.
2006 DALLAS MORNING NEWS WINE COMPETITION
The 2006 competition marked the 22nd anniversary of The Dallas Morning News Wine Competition.
The judges are selected from people who work with wine on a daily basis; restaurateurs, wine stewards, retail wine buyers, wine and food writers, enologists, as well as a few very knowledgeable consumers. Each judging panel includes a mix of those disciplines so different viewpoints will be considered in the evaluation of the wines.
2006
FINGER LAKES INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION
Finger Lakes International Wine Competition is open to commercial wineries from the United States, Canada, and all other wine-producing countries. In 2005, the event attracted more than 1600 wines from across the U.S. and around the globe!
A diverse, highly skilled group of judges are invited to participate, including sommeliers, educators, wine makers, writers, importers, retailers, and industry consultants. Gold and Silver medals are awarded, and there is special recognition of Double Gold (unanimous panel vote) wines.
All net proceeds from the competition and its special events benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc. This not-for-profit organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life-threatening challenges. Located in the heart of New York State's Finger Lakes wine country, the Camp offers residential programs, year-round activities, and events for adults and children.
2006 NWIWC (NEW WORLD INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION
This competition pits the best wines from each price class against each other resulting in a Best of Variety award. The competition is open to wines produced anywhere in the "New World", including all of North America, Central America, and South America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It is open to all varietals, generic and proprietary wines grown in those regions and made from traditional grapes or other fruits and/or berries.
Wines are judged by price category, ranging from inexpensive through moderate to premium or super-premium prices. Each wine is judged against others of its type and also against its price peers. Consumers are informed as to best wines in each price category. It is the only competition in America, and perhaps the world to pit the best wines from each price class against each other to determine an overall best of variety or type.
All wines judged "double-blind", that is, the judges not only do not know the identity of the wines they are tasting, neither do they have a list of entered wines, which might enable them to guess the wines identities.
2006 & 2007 SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE WINE COMPETITION
The 2006 and 2007 professional judging took place in Cloverdale, CA. 55 judges from around the country participated in evaluating over 3800 entries. This judging which began over twenty years ago with a few entries from local wineries is now the largest competition of American wine in the world.
Entries were submitted from across the United States, though the overwhelming majority originated with wineries in California. The competition is tough and not everyone walks away with a medal. But those that do, especially the coveted Best of Class and Sweepstake awards, have a year's worth of bragging rights and a valuable promotional story.
The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is the largest competition of American wines in the world.
2007 FLORIDA STATE FAIR INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION
This competition received 1,239 entries from 28 states and 9 foreign countries. Medals awarded included 50 Double Gold, 163 Gold, 391 Silver and 422 Bronze.
TASTINGS, THE BEVERAGE TESTING INSTITUTE
Tastings started life as the Beverage Testing Institute, which was founded in 1981 with the objective of producing fair and impartial wine reviews for consumers. To make their information as consistent as possible, the Beverage Testing Institute uses a dedicated tasting lab in Chicago. This room was specially designed to minimize external factors and maximize panelists' concentration.
The scores reflect the quality of products in today's market. It roughly corresponds to a five-star system:
96-100--Superlative
90-95--Exceptional
85-89--Highly Recommended
80-84--Recommended
less than 80--Not Recommended
